When the weather in Oklahoma City heats up, everyone wants a little eye candy in the form of scenic views. If you’re planning to visit this spring or summer, some great scenic locations offer food, drink, and cultural education.
Here are just a few of our favorite places to snap a great photo in OKC.
Red Rock Canyon Grill
People come here for the food and are impressed by the incredible view. Situated on Lake Hefner, Red Rock Canyon Grill is the perfect place to be as the sun goes down over the water.
We might be a landlocked city, but there’s no shortage of waterfront options. If you hit this great location, be sure to order some of their famous mustard crusted pork chops or the meatloaf. You won’t be sorry.
The O Bar
The rooftop lovers out there have a great option in The O Bar. Located in Midtown, the popular cocktail bar sits atop the Ambassador Hotel and offers stunning views of downtown OKC. It’s a great place to go if you want a little fresh air and some truly stellar cocktails.
While it can be a little on the pricey side, you’re not going to want to miss this unique take on Oklahoma City. It beautifully showcases our urban side.
For cheaper drinks and great views, head to Bossa Nova for happy hour. An especially great spot in fantastic weather, this bar looks out over Midtown. The bonus? You don’t really have to sit outside to see the views — they’re easily accessible inside as well.
Bossa Nova offers both food and drink, but most people go to hang out for cheap eats and to see the sights.
Another great option on Lake Hefner is Mama Roja. It’s a delectable Mexican restaurant that looks out over the water and even has views of the lighthouse.
Take advantage of the frozen margaritas, which are a favorite of regulars, and don’t forget to try the delicious flautas. If you’re coming on the weekend, they also have a yummy brunch option that you won’t want to miss.
Packard’s New American Kitchen
Packard’s is another midtown bar that puts you right in the center of it all. Its patio offers views of both midtown and downtown, and allow you to be out in the sunshine.
The food is eclectic, meaning there’s a little something for everyone. Try their salads or the very popular fried lasagna (a southern take on regular lasagna that will change your life). It’s perfect for families and groups, so make sure to stop by on your next trip to town.
Oklahoma City Museum of Art
Don’t want to partake in tons of food or drink? Consider heading to the Oklahoma City Museum of Art. Their rooftop offers live music in the summer and sweeping views of downtown Oklahoma City.
Oklahoma City has no shortage of great outdoor spots. Next time you visit, check out one of these options to see our city in a whole new light.
